Aeration

grass roots need air to grow

Aeration is one of the most important yet underrated treatments which can be carried out on a lawn. Its major benefit is on root development which is the basis for a healthy grass plant.

Eco Lawns has been providing lawn aeration treatments, as well as a full range of other lawn care services, since 2008.  We see aeration as being integral to an effective lawn care regime. Aeration can be carried out manually using a fork but this is time consuming and back-breaking work. We have a range of machines to carry out aerations quickly, efficiently and stress free.

We are NPTC qualified, experienced and fully insured for your peace of mind. Our team is available Monday to Friday, throughout Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey.

Why does aeration matter?

Grass roots need air to grow and issues such as compaction or thatch can reduce the availability of oxygen in the soil, thus impacting lawn health. Lawn aeration allows air to be made available deep into the soil, and provides a pathway for water from rain or irrigation to penetrate the soil and be readily available to the roots.

For best results we recommend an aeration annually, or at a minimum once every 2-3 years. We regard it as one of the most important things you can do to your lawn, especially when carried out in conjunction with our fertiliser treatments. Our team has invested in sourcing the best possible equipment available, to give you outstanding results.

Eco Lawns offers a wide range of different aeration treatments, tailored to your lawn's needs. To ensure we offer the right service to you, all customers benefit from a free lawn survey. Book yours today!

what are tines?

Tines are the forks or 'spikes' used on our aeration tools. We have a range of tines available, with our most regular one being a larger solid tine. These are especially useful as they really punch into the soil and break through the thatch layer, all while leaving no mess behind.

Hollow tine aeration is also a popular option suitable for a variety of lawns. However, as they pull a plug from the ground they can leave the lawn full of holes and looking very messy, so we tend to only do these in conjunction with a scarification or renovation. Our team has your best interests at heart, and will always recommend the best option for you.
