Disease Control

Prevent and remedy lawn diseases

Fungal diseases are far more common in British lawns than most people expect. Discoloured patches are often mistaken for animal damage or wear and tear but these can often be attributed to a fungal disease.

Fungal spores are widespread in the environment and if conditions are suitable they can germinate. Fungus can appear in many forms but a few can develop into diseases which can damage or even kill your lawn. With years of experience our technicians can advise the best course of action to keep your lawn looking its best. Eco Lawns have been working since 2008, and as a local team, we are aware of all the issues which are common in our part of the UK.

Don't fall foul of fungi!

The most common fungal problems we see are red thread disease and fusarium. Red thread disease is extremely common and generally makes the lawn look brown and dry, even during wet weather. At certain times of year our technicians are reporting seeing red thread several times per day!

Most of this fungus will not actually damage the grass, but can leave it looking unsightly which is the last thing you want if you care about your lawn!

The first stage of treatment with most fungal diseases is to apply a high-nitrogen fertiliser and possibly aeration; this usually takes care of any problems. Should this treatment not be effective there are suitable fungicide applications that we can provide to take care of it.

Our free lawn care surveys will determine the best course of action.
